Diwali, November 13th, is supposed to be a major clash with two big films releasing: Jab Tak Hai Jaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, and Son of Sardaar, Ajay Devgn‘s film with Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha. But now it seems that Ajay’s lawyer has served Yash Raj Films a notice for using their dominant position in the market to prevent other films from releasing on the same day. Here’s what went down.

Apparently, just before Ek Tha Tiger released, YRF had used their influential position to arm-twist exhibitors; they had allegedly said they’d only give them ETT if they promised to give their Diwali release preference over all others. Therefore, Ajay and his team felt they needed to take legal action, and filed the notice on October 18th (three days before Yash Chopra‘s death), though it was only served on the 31st. Either way, Ajay Devgn and his team insist that Son of Sardaar will go ahead with a November 13th release date as originally planned.

So what do you think this is? Is YRF really using their influence unfairly? Or is it a publicity stunt from the SOS team? Personally, I’m inclined to believe that it’s a little bit of both!
