New York based designer, Sushma Patel, showed off a line of frothy confections at the ongoing India Resort Fashion Week 2012 in Goa. And rightly so, because her line was inspired by cup cakes and was called Cupcake Massacre. In fact, each invitee to her show was given a cupcake to munch on as they entered the venue. That, of course, would explain the sugar-rush induced loud cheers and applause which greeted her models on the ramp!
We particularly liked her line of jumpsuits with variations in necklines that ranged from scooped to halter, draped, cowl, plunging and will-power, with lengths that moved from the cropped knee hemline version to the long ankle-skimming ones. Fabrics moved from satin to lace and gold then moved on to abstract floral geometric prints.
We also loved the elaborate hair and make-up created by the very dynamic Marvie Anne Beck (and her team) which was painstakingly created over three hours.
Sushma’s show stopper was actress Shazahn Padamsee, looking Barbie-like in a satin flared mini with mirror bodice and a sensuous long shoulder trail.
