I love their mash of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” and Jodh Akbar’s “Jashn-e-Bahara”. This was the first song that I heard, and I knew I had fallen in love with their sound. I listened to this song on loop for days, stalked the band mates on facebook. This song has become an anthem for sleepover with my besties.

So please please please get me the free tickets.

    • Sunny Walia

Penn Masala are an amazing band and I’m a big fan of them. Though they do superbly amazing covers and mashups my favorite song would be a original one and that is

      Distant Places.

Kho gayi, par thi, mithi kuch ve yaadein
Reh gaye, haan ve, bachpan ke ve vaadein
Nikle, hum bhi, nainon mein liye sapne
Bhatke, path se, yaad aayein ab apne

I think these lines are so universal in their appeal, I’m mean think about it they would so apply to all of journeys right?
      :)

      Just amazing.

      PS – I’m from Pune :)

    • pooja

And the video adds to the awesomeness!

      Penn Masala redefine music!

Has to be “Tujhe Dekha Toh/Yellow”. Although it’s an old track it appealed to me like no other ! The transition from one song to another is seamless !! The song is perfect because DDLJ is a movie we have all grown up loving, and well, nothing needs to be said about Coldplay !! I actually want it sung at my wedding, whenever that happens haha ! But, If nothing could you please put in a request that they play this during the Mumbai concert, please ?

      Setu Shah, Mumbai.

    • Shruti Naik

I also love their songs Aadat/Apologize, Jashn-e-bahaara and Yeh Hosla…..I was fortunate to have attend their last live performance at Hard Rock Cafe New Delhi. My association with Penn Masala is right from 1999 from the days of Chamak Challo and Yeh Dillagi….I was fortunate to have attended their live performance at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey where I studied for a bit – their performance was flawless and totally mesmerizing! Hey Malini,

Big Penn Masala fan here. Bit hard to pick one favourite but I’d say the Chaiya Chaiya song…

Missed seeing them perform live in Phila some years ago and then again on their India tour as I was in the UK then… so it’d be great if you pick me a winner.

      Thanks in advance…

      Cheers!

My favourite work, if I have to choose just one, is the one with Viva-la-vida and Jashn-e-Bahara, just loved the way the beats build up in that song, and the way you guys shift from one to the other without making it seem abrupt at all!

I have never heard you guys live, I’m a student from Bangalore, and I’m not likely to hear you guys live (given the ticket costs). But if this ticket comes my way, I assure you, I will come from wherever I am at that point, and sing along, for EVERY single song you guys perform.

Here’s wishing you guys a great tour ahead! Fingers crossed!

Bharat humko jaan se pyaara hai! This is a song every Indian will love and with vocal instrumental effects and heavenly voices, it gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it. Their music has already made an Impact and the world knows it. The concept of One World without boundaries through originals, re creations of South Asian and Western songs is really addictive and bonding can be seen with the people hearing this genre. Looking forward welcoming them in Mumbai and their new album in 2013.
