Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney, a Mumbai based housewife originally from Chandigarh, is reported to have become the first woman in India to win 5 Crores on the popular gameshow Kaun Banega Crorepati. 

Sawhney, who tutors school children for part-time income, has been trying from the very first season to get on the show. The current sixth season seems to have been the charm for gameshow aspirant, although TV viewers won’t have a chance to confirm her victory until the episode airs on January 12.
