“Music, in performance, is a type of sculpture. The air in the performance is sculpted into something.”

So said Frank Zappa & the air around Snehalaya in Ahmednagar was charged up with magic on 26th of January while we performed the songs of Satyamev Jayate.

Team Satyamev Jayate along with Aamir Khan, Satyajeet Bhatkal, Svati Chakraborty, Monica Singh, Ram Sampath, Swanand Kirkire and me with my band were at the Snehalaya campus (started twenty years ago by Dr Girish Kulkarni), to celebrate India’s Republic Day with the opening of Satyamev Jayate Bhavan, a 25,000 square feet facility for women and children.

Also the DVD of the Season 1 of Satyamev Jayate was released by the young girls of Snehalaya. The rest of the amazing campus has been up and running for two decades, having started with modest beginnings and virtually no external support, barring the volunteers.

A gauge of how much we as a nation have truly progressed or can be called civilized is the basis of how we treat the more vulnerable in our society – especially women & children. We hope that 2013 is a brand new start for us all in working towards a more egalitarian, fair world to live in – it’s the only way towards happiness of any genuine kind.

Do click on www.snehalaya.org to visit this campus virtually and see their family and the fantastic work they are doing. Who knows, you might be excited enough to make this trip to Ahmednagar. I will surely be there on a regular basis to start with!
