Back in October 2011, I interviewed John Abraham for a contest he was promoting, and the first question I asked him (courtesy MissMalini reader, @RaviKapoor) was, “Why are you not on Twitter like so many of your contemporaries?”

To this he replied, “Twitter is a very responsible medium and a very powerful medium and at this point in time, I don’t know if I could justify the use of Twitter. So, that’s the only reason why I haven’t got onto it yet! Probably, the day I feel I could use Twitter rightly, I would get on to it!”

Well, that day has apparently come, and it’s time to start following @The_JohnAbraham!

We were rather surprised – and tremendously happy – when director Karan Johar announced John’s arrival on Twitter. Even though the star technically joined the micro-blogging site last year, he had only two tweets (23rd November and 6th December 2012). Before Karan’s announcement John had only two hundred followers, today he has nearly twenty-thousand (that’s called the KJo bump)!

John’s first tweet, post KJo’s announcement, was to his fans – the second was to his Dostana co-star, Abhishek Bachchan.

We expect his following to grow quite fast, unless of course he’s only revamped his efforts to promote Dostana-2.

Welcome to Twitter, John! Team MissMalini loves you, so please tweet away 🙂
