Shah Rukh Khan has never shied away from expressing his fondness and support for women, and it seems like he’ll be practicing what he preaches. He recently featured in R Balki‘s short film for women, which is supposed to release tomorrow, on Women’s Day. But there’s more – he’s also tackling the Bollywood industry and taking steps to ensure that it’s not as male-dominated. Want to know how?

Now usually, the credit reels of any Bollywood film will first feature the name of the male actor, and then that of the female. There have been rare cases when this has been flipped – Sonam Kapoor‘s Aisha comes to mind – but for the most part, this has typically been the case. But for Chennai Express, SRK is ensuring that Deepika Padukone‘s name appears before his in the credits – a trend he plans on continuing for subsequent films as well.

It’s going to take a lot more to combat the male domination in Bollywood, but it is a nice gesture on Shah Rukh’s part. Do you think this will be an effective move?
