While I was not mightily impressed with designer Arpan Vohra’s show on Day 2 at Lakme Fashion Week, I did mange to find five things that made me sit up and take notice.

Here are five things I liked:

Candy Colours: This being the Summer / Resort season, I like the use of cool candy colors. Especially when they are used to complement each other, like in the picture. The yellow on pink looks luscious!

Black & Gold on Skin: Skin is always in. But to make it look bewitching, throw in a combination of black and gold and you have a winner. This range of dresses with gold accents and in sheer lace (that show off your skin underneath) are just right for a warm summer night.

Patels On White: Nothing sets off stark white better than cool summery pastels. Arpan has used his pastel palette cautiously on the borders to enhance the grace of this sexy saree. And the basic black blouse makes the colours stand out even more. Fab!

Colour Blocking: Who doesn’t love colour blocking, as long as it’s tastefully done? This strapless sheath in candy hues is my favourite piece in his collection.

Bringing Sexy Back: I’ve always believed that fashion is meant to be sexy and Arpan gets it right with the sensuous criss-cross at the back of the dress. Skin is always in, remember?
