Copper was a common choice for designers Suhani Pittie and Nupur Kanoi‘s show at Lakme Fashion Week. With its malleable nature, and reddish orange colour, they both twisted the metal in multiple variations in their collections. Read on to see just how did they did it!

Taking us away from the tired and cliches of modern jewellery, Suhani Pittie presented a collection that embodied a certain mystique, in both form and concept. Her inspirations were drawn from tribal and pagan forms, and she used copper to “create circles” which brought together her story of deities, nature, and ancient human art & expressions.

She used coloured thread in coils to express the intertwined existence of all natures’s flora and fauna. The collection also used acrylic in a distinct way, emphasizing the thought of “an opposing world” of ancient wisdom. From statement neck-pieces, to ear pieces with tribal aesthetics, to solid cuffs, the show was a journey that took us through a world of beauty in its rustic best.

Known for her androgynous take on women’s wear, including Indian wear, Kanoi’s use of copper complimented her colour palette of military greens and bieges, thus giving the looks a hint of bling. She used it abundantly in jackets, and in spurts to detail her trousers & shirts. This strong collection will surely fuel her ever growing fan base of celebrities and fashion lovers.

Copper came through as a star element in the collections of these wonderfully talent designers. From the accessories to the garments, Miss Malini loved the copper connection between these two!
