The Street Influences – Javed Khan’s Ex.Pression.Ist n.

This is the guy to watch out for: Javed Khan‘s new collection has woven ‘dreams’ into denim and a whole lot more. We’re talking graphic dye and patchwork techniques inserted into a collection giving it a street-cred punch. The calm and conservative designer left his collection to do the talking, which is what we like about him.

For The Traveler’s Suitcase

Shantanu & Nikhil‘s aptly named collection, The Tourist is a treat for the jet-setter.  The line of resort-heavy looks came with a comforting palette of pastels graduated to regal navy blues. They packed it all in; dinner jackets, Indian wear with a holiday twist and some drape forms. If you are planning a getaway that demands a sartorial street chic wardrobe, then The Tourist offers a luxurious twist on it.

Let’s stop talking about the classic suit for some time and concentrate on something more contemporary. Sanjay Hingu is your man if you like a little fun in your wardrobe. He presented a collection with a subtle amount of quirks for men to step into. With contrast pipping, clean lines and clever constructions, the collection had Sanjay’s sharp signature on menswear. On the other hand, Kunal Rawal showed some pretty cool cuts and overlaps in his blazers. In a line-up based of his personal sense of style Rawal’s creation had retro and street influences. If you’re looking for something with distinct character, Sanjay Hingu and Kunal Rawal may have answered your prayers!

From Tribes To Tradition

Amalraj Sengupta's 'Tailor'
Amalraj Sengupta’s ‘Tailor’

Amalraj Sengupta‘s bespoke line called Tailor’s first collection was clean, impeccable and specific. Those were the three first words overheard from the front row throughout his show. He called this one, The Tribe and it was based on the Maoris of New Zealand. He tried to create snake and tattoo effects with khadi, silk, cotton and sheer organza, the result was aesthetically neat. Kurtas and scarves with graphic lines that are easy on the eye exhibited through Amalraj’s vision, his ‘Indian’ and formal wear is breezy and perfect for this summer.

Apart from the above, LFW summer/resort 2013 had a whole lot of designers – from the gregarious Manish Malhotra to quirky Artivijay Gupta, who punctuated their collections with some interesting offerings in men’s fashion. This summer, if you want to make a lasting impression or just enjoy dressing up, you have your looks ready by Indian fashion’s most respected and adored talents!
