I ran into the lovely Zarine Khan today as she stopped by the press room to say hello to her Housefull co-star Boman Irani (so cute), and she was very charming to chat with. When I asked her for a comment for MissMalini readers she lit up and asked, ‘Really, MissMalini is here too?” That’s right, Team MissMalini is everywhere!
I asked Zarine about the current state of female actors in Indian films today. Are things improving – is there more scope for female actors now?“It feels great because women used to be a prop in our films, and we have lot more to do now, a lot more than just running around trees. We have so many actresses in the industry today doing great things. For example, Vidya Balan with Kahaani and Sridevi with English Vinglish. There are female oriented films being made and people are going to the theatres to watch them, that makes me feel great.”
Here’s hoping that Ms. Khan will get to try her hand at some meatier roles in the future. (Speaking of hands… she had some pretty impressive multi-coloured polish going on hers!)
