Vishal Bhardwaj

In the past, Vishal Bhardwaj has successfully adapted two Shakespeare plays – Macbeth (Maqbool) and Othello (Omkara). Now, word has it that he’s ready to make his third film based on a Shakespeare play – Hamlet!

He’s not the only one, though: Onir has already begun working on an adaptation and Tigmanshu Dhulia is supposedly going to begin working on his once he wraps up pending projects. Vishal is yet to confirm the news about the Hamlet film, but he has in the past said that he will return to complete a trilogy of Shakespeare tragedies. If Hamlet doesn’t work out (perhaps he may ditch the idea considering two adaptations are already in the works), he will pick either King Lear or Richard III – he has, in the past, thrown up those two names as potential films as well.

Vishal also has Kaminey 2 in the pipeline, which he has said he would like to make, and for which he will once again sign on Shahid Kapoor.
