Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan has completed 25 years in the industry, an occasion he marked with the media yesterday, when he cut a cake and spoke about his journey thus far. He was wearing one strange-as-hell outfit, though, and you can sort of get a glimpse of it with those shiny pants, but really, that’s not all… take a look at the whole outfit!

I want to believe he was shooting in that outfit, but surely it couldn’t have been that difficult to throw on a pair of jeans before coming to address the media? That doesn’t take away from the amazing career this actor has had, though, starting right from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, right up to his recent release, Talaash. During the chat with the media, Aamir began by thanking several people – Nasir Hussain, who gave him his first break; Mansoor Khan, who directed QSQT; all the directors/writers who had worked with him; Reena Dutta (his first wife) and her family; Kiran Rao, his current wife; and of course the audience, who he says has “tolerated” him for 25 years.

He also noted that post-QSQT, he had a few duds, and that was the period where he realized he wouldn’t sign on a film for a particular person or for money. He says that this is a trait that continues with him till today, but back in the day people used to laugh at him for doing very few films. Now he’s earned the tag of Mr perfectionist, though, so I guess those people are eating their words!

Aamir even mentioned that he didn’t believe he’d reach this far, but is incredibly happy to have done so and to make a space in the heart of so many people over the years. As for regrets, though, he says he has one: he didn’t get to work with Dilip Kumar, something he really wanted to do.
