Amitabh & Jaya Bachchan

We told you earlier today how Amitabh & Jaya Bachchan just celebrated 40 years together. That’s a pretty impressive number in this day and age even if they did it with their own share of demons. I thought it might be interesting to look at their last four decades in pictures and relive this journey in their honour. xoxo

Amitabh & Jaya

Amitabh and Jaya first worked together in Zanjeer which released in 1973, the year they got married. To celebrate the success of the film Amitabh and Jaya wanted to go for a holiday and it was then, Big B’s parents insisted that they get married before the trip.

In July of the same year Abhimaan released echoing the clash of egos many say was their own true story…

Two years later they worked together again in Sholay and Mili…

The controversial Silsila released in 1981. Fueling rumours about Amitabh’s affair with Rekha

In 1982 Amitabh Bachchan’s live concert in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens was the cutest thing ever because he picked up Jaya for the lyrics “jiski biwi chotti” in Mere Angane Mein 🙂 remember that?! Something he repeated (this time with Jaya on a stool!) during the Unforgettable Show tour in 2008 in Atlantic City before they reminisced and sang a song together from Abhimaan together. *Awwww*

Unforgettable Tour

In 1983 Amitabh Bachchan had his horrible accident while shooting for Coolie. Jaya was by his side through the whole ordeal.

In 1998 they appeared on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal where Jaya seemed in good spirits about their relationship.

And again in 2003 where she revealed that he was a better father than a husband.

In the new millennium they played an on screen couple again in Karan Johar‘s Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham, which was a massive hit.
