Looks like Emraan Hashmi has landed himself a new role – and an interesting one at that! Turns out that the Bhatt family is planning a remake of the 1991 film, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, and have chosen Emraan for the male lead. No other details have been announced yet, so we don’t know who the female lead is going to be. But remember back when Pooja Bhatt had said she wants to remake the film with Alia Bhatt?
When asked if she was starring in the remake, Alia had said – at that time – that the film wasn’t happening and Pooja mentioned she’d want to cast her if she ever decided to go ahead with the project. Well, the remake seems to be in the works now and it’s quite possible they may finalize Alia for the lead, especially since everyone keeps talking about how much she resembles Pooja.
As for Emraan’s casting, here’s what Mahesh Bhatt told TOI:
“The film I directed was modelled on It Happened One Night by Frank Capra, but didn’t do justice to the hero’s character. With this remake, we seek to do justice to the character played originally by Clark Gable, that of an unapologetic rake. Emi fits this character like a glove. With this film, women who have secretly lusted for him so far, will now fall in love with him.”
Guess we’ll have to wait and see both about whether Alia will be cast for the role and whether Pooja will direct the film. Who would you be your picks?
