Manish Arora is probably one of the biggest names in Indian fashion. His unique, quirky collections have got him noticed internationally. He showcases every year at Paris Fashion Week and his stint as Creative Director for Paco Rabanne was much celebrated. He counts Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj as his celeb clients.On the eve of his first ever Bridal Couture collection, Arora gives a bit of insight on what to expect.
TeamMissMalini(MM): Tell us about your foray into Indian Bridal Wear? Why did you feel the need to do it now?
Manish Arora (MA):I have never ventured into hardcore Indian Bridal Couture. This is the opportune time and of course, the bridal showcase would be true to my style.
TeamMM:Your collection has been deemed bridal couture – is bridal wear really couture?
MA: Bridal is often taken as a mirror image of Couture. But in reality it is totally different. But in India people like to believe them to be the same.
TeamMM: What can we expect to see from this collection?
MA: It’s my first Indian by Manish Arora show, and I am really working hard to make it worth a grand show.
TeamMM: What have you planned for the hair and make-up for the show?
MA: Staying true to my love for kitsch, model’s faces would be lit up with lots of jewellery that I have designed myself. Hair would be simple yet elegant.
TeamMM: What’s next in the world of Manish Arora – any exciting collaborations coming up?
MA: The world of Manish Arora is quite vast. I’m constantly involved with newer things and making them better. Positively, there are many things to look forward to in the upcoming future. Stay tuned!
