As you may have gathered from my Facebook check-ins and #DesiGirlTraveler tweets, I’ve just spent the last week in fabulous New York, New York! Nowshad and I came to attend the launch of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon app processor and to see just how smart our smartphones are becoming – all thanks to the MIGHTY DRAGON.

I’ll let Nowshad go FULL geek on you in another post about all the things you probably DIDN’T KNOW about the Snapdragon and what it can do for you. But for now, let me take you on my geek chic tour of everything we loved and all the craziness we (as expected!) got up to 🙂 xoxo

WATCH!

1. GeekS cAN BE CHIC!

One of the things that really stood out to my mind was how fresh, young and fun the whole event was…

No boring tech speeches and awkward nerds huddling around the many gadgets on display here!

The Qualcomm Snapdragon event was held at SIR stage 37 in New York City and was packed with energy, vodka pomegranate cocktails, unusual and awesome catering displays (with cute waiters in neon blue shoe laces!) and multiple photobooths all bathed in sexy red hot lighting.

2. OH SNAP, MR. DJ.

As if the venue wasn’t cool enough, the DJs used an array of Snapdragon tablets to jam up an insane music set with live visuals to match. Awesome stuff Movement Factory, awesome stuff!

3. The Snapdragon Booth

To show off just how powerful Snapdragon can be, the inventive folks at Qualcomm designed and built a 540 degree Snapdragon Photo Booth using 130 HTC One smartphones! This is the same kind of setup used in big budget Hollywood movies like the The Matrix, and they allowed us to take our own 540 degree freeze-frame photos!

4. BOLLYWOOD MEETS MATRIX!

Of course, we couldn’t resist creating our very own movie moment, so Nowshad and I jumped in first!

5. A GALAXY OF NEW SMARTpHONE FEATURES!

Microchip genie Raj Talluri (Senior VP, Product Management Qualcomm Technologies a.k.a. The Man Behind the Microchip!) took us on a tour of all things Snapdragon and showed us some of the cool new features of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3, which runs the latest Snapdragon 800 chip.

6. Photobombers begone!

Speaking of the Note 3, how cool is it that it lets you eliminate accidental photo bombers from your pix with the erase function?!

7. 4K IS HERE!

We also discovered that some Snapdragon 800 phones can now record and project video in 4K resolution! Can you say hello mega HD? (FYI, 4K is the next generation of high definition video technology, also known as Ultra High Definition. We’re talking 4,000 horizontal pixels peeps!)

8. PICTURE PERFECT

And ladies, you’re gonna LOVE this. The Galaxy Note 3 has a “Beauty Mode” that smooths out fine lines and wrinkles, so you take better pictures! Yup, your photo-prayers answered 🙂

9. LG G2? Me TOO!

I discovered the LG G2 I’ve been playing around with lately ALSO has a quad-core Snapdragon 800 heart! #FTW

Ohh and BONUS! Look what was in my goody bag along with a ton of other geek chic stuff!

10.THE FUTURE: IT’s HERE

I think Raj put it absolutely brilliantly: “if we were innovating in automobile design and engineering at the same pace we are in smartphone development, we’d all be zipping around in flying cars by now!” Oh dayum, imagine how true that is!

Also reminded me of something Tim McDonough (Qualcomm VP marketing said at lunch)…

So there you have it. Thank you Snapdragon for enhancing my mobile user experience and being the heart and brains of today’s hottest smartphones! With 1000 devices already in the market and another 500 in development all I can say is to the moon baby, TO THE MOON!
