Over the past few days, there has been a lot of talk about a stay on the release of Ram-Leela, which would’ve meant that the film would not have released this weekend as planned. A petition was filed against the film, saying that it would hurt religious sentiments since the title Ram-Leela gave people the expectations that they would be watching a film related to Lord Ram. However, all matters seem to have been sorted out as of now: Sanjay Leela Bhansali has clarified that the film is not based on Lord Ram, and is instead a retelling of the Shakespeare classic, Romeo and Juliet. The film’s title has also been officially changed to Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.

The head of the Eros legal team has also issued a statement clarifying that is no ban or injunction on the release of the film, and it can be released and exhibited throughout the world unobstructed. Read his statement in full:

Unfortunately, some parts of the film will still remain edited, such as Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone‘s much talked about kiss.
