Pallavi Jaikishan is a big player in the Indian bridal market. With a career spanning over 30 years, her elegant designs and old world charm stand out in a sea of garish, blingy garments that currently dominate stores. This time, she showcases her latest collection at India Bridal Week where she offers three different styles that she’s never done before: hand painted saris, lehenga dresses and the introduction of a new colour – garnet maroon.

The hand-painted French jaquard, georgette and tulle saris have been painstakingly created with Pallavi’s signature flowers which took over a week to create!

Lehenga dresses feature yards of tulle that resemble clouds giving a very dream like vibe to the outfit and are finished with a dupatta. These are available in hues from peach to dreamy blues.

Lastly, the garnet hued line comprises of lehengas, lehenga saris and western wear such as jackets and cullottes (knee-length pants for women that are skirt-like). All of these outfits feature one on tone appliqué reworked with pessimenterie and French sequins.

What’s more is that Pallavi is launching her first ever line of jewellery, inspired by her many jaunts abroad to flea markets and bazaars. The collection is a marriage between embroideries and stones.

Each of these necklaces are one of a kind! I have sourced the components from antique markets all over the world and it’s taken years to collect these components!”, says Pallavi Jaikishan. “These are Czechoslovakian Filigree Broaches with multi-colour stones, mounted on Brocade and embellished with stones, beads and French sequins embroidery.” Now doesn’t that sound extremely decadent and fit for a bride, nay Princess!

Pallavi’s show will take place on Saturday, 30th November at 7:30 pm at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Mumbai.
