If you’ve followed our blog closely, you would know that Deepika Padukone is our style crush. She’s had an impressive sartorial run this year while out and about promoting her three movies Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express and Ram-Leela. In the past year, we’ve seen her wear Pankaj & Nidhi, Zara and Sabyasachi and we’re hoping she steps outside her tried and tested formula of anarkalis, figure-hugging dresses and elegant saris.

With her glam squad comprising of Vogue India’s Anaita Shroff Adajania and make-up artist Anil Chinnappa, we can expect to see some stellar looks.

With Finding Fanny Fernandes and Happy New Year set to release next year, I’m hoping we see her step outside her comfort zone. Here are 5 picks that I wish to see on her, from the spring/summer 2014 runways.

Red Carpet Dressing:

We’ve only seen Deepika wear Amit Aggarwal on the cover of a fashion glossy. I think she would look absolutely stunning in this fiery red gown that has a thigh high slit that would show off her glam gams. The sculpted peplum detail would highlight her tiny waist.

Press Junkets:

Deepika Padukone and 431 -888
Deepika Padukone and 431 -88

D-Pad loves her ripped jeans and thong sandals and usually aces her casual looks. I think she can take it a notch higher in this casual meets flirty look from 431-88 by Shweta Kapur. The white wide-legged pants paired with a coral cropped blouse topped with an orange shrug would certainly stand out in the crowd.

Going Desi:

Deepika Padukone + Shivan & Narresh

Deepika usually wears muted colours when it comes to her saris. With her age, I hope she experiments with more bright hues. The Shivan & Narresh colour-blocked sari is something I’m sure she will do justice to.

Airport Run:

Deepika Padukone + Josh Goraya

Josh Goraya has been on my radar ever since I saw his collection at WILFW. The cropped trousers and printed tunic are fluid and comfy enough for a long haul flight.

Date Night:

Deepika and Hemant + Nandita

Switching things up from the the loose maxi dress, this super cute high-waisted heart-print dress from Hemant & Nandita is both fun yet flirty.
