As part of my job profile, I have to keep a hawk-eye on what the stars wear on the red carpet. One of the few actresses that I look forward to seeing is Kangana Ranaut. She always keeps things interesting with her choice of outfits. Sometimes they tend to be a bit costume-y, take for instance the time she channeled Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s or when she bleached her eyebrows at Rakesh Roshan’s birthday bash. I think she’s a refreshing change as she doesn’t stick to just one style.
Recently, taking time from her hectic filming schedule, she made two appearances in one week. First, at the Grey Goose Style Du Jour party and then at the IRFW Calendar launch.
Day 1: Gucci
Up first, she chose a Gucci pre-fall 2013 black net tulle gown fully embroidered with sequins and macramé embroidery patches that she paired with a Cruise 2013 black Broadway clutch. Taking inspiration from old Hollywood, her hair was styled in Veronica Lake curls. Sonam Kapoor has worn a jumpsuit from Gucci at the Elle Beauty Awards that featured a similar neckline.
Day 2: Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna
The next day, she wore a gray and silver Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna sheath dress that had transparent panels. She styled her outfit with nude pumps and very subtle make-up. Usually, I would have loved for a pop of colour but I think the light shades look wonderful on her and the bright hues would have been too distracting.
Both days, she flaunted ample cleavage, in slashed-to-the-chest necklines that had panels, making it look not too risqué. Does she seem to favour this style, she’s worn a similar dress here?
