MissMalini reader M asked Industrywalla: What happened between Rani and Vivek that they are no longer on speaking terms?
Industrywalla says: Good question! Not many people actually followed up and wondered why Rani Mukerji and Vivek Oberoi didn’t do a single film opposite each other, despite the success of their 2002 release, Saathiya. They did end up starring in the same movie (Mani Ratnam‘s Yuva), but they were not cast opposite each other. In fact, they didn’t even talk to each other on the sets of that movie!
So what happened? The buzz is that things took a turn for the worse when Aishwarya Rai came into Vivek’s life. Actually, Aishwarya and Rani were good friends until Vivek got into the picture. The thing is, he and Rani didn’t really get along that well during Saathiya. They were cordial and civil, but that’s about it. However, things changed with Ash and Vivek started dating each other and Rani got caught in the cross fire. Vivek wasn’t too happy with Ash and Rani’s friendship and asked his then girlfriend to keep some distance from his co-star. Known for her fiery temper and sharp tongue, Rani didn’t mince words and had a heated arguement with Vivek, which put a final end to any chances the two of them ever had of being friends.
Ever since then, the two have gone separate ways and never speak of each other with any liking.
