Another day, another red carpet outing for the Bollywood folks. This time, it was the nominations party for the 59th Filmfare Awards. Here’s what I thought of the menswear on display that night… 🙂

The Ugly

My, where do I start with this outfit! Right from those Christian Louboutin loafers to those round-framed eyeglasses, everything about this look is desperately attention-seeking. And that deconstructed Prince of Wales check suit from Versace’s A/W’13 collection, you’ll be hard-pressed to find something as unsightly as that. There’s one thing being fashion forward, another being trying too hard. This, my friends, is the perfect example of the latter.

The return of the Cuban boots… aaarrrgggghhh.

Self-explanatory, no?

The Bad

Guys, never, I repeat, never button up both the buttons of your suit jacket or blazer, like Saqib Saleem has. It’s wrong suit etiquette, and you don’t want to be caught doing it, do you?

And on the other hand, you don’t want to leave your suit jacket/blazer completely unbuttoned, like Ayan Mukerji, Karan Johar and Arjun Kapoor here, either. That again is wrong suit etiquette. Always, always do up the top button – only.

Ayan would’ve been on the next section otherwise, and that is one gorgeous windowpane jacket on him. (It’s by Hugo Boss and is available at The Collective, FYI.) As for K Jo, I’m stumped that someone so “fashion conscious” can consistently turn up in trousers that bunch around the ankles and in such hideous footwear. Whilst it’s a decent suit, the slim shawl collar on the Versace jacket is rather unflattering for Arjun’s frame.

The Good

A neat, unfussy look – always welcome by us.

Oh, bless! Dhanush looks sweet, no? Although wish the Sand jacket was more fitted around his torso…

See, Prateik can scrub up nice if he wants to. Or, I’d like to think it’s the effect of the one-too-many FINED! posts on our site… 😉

What a fine three-piece suit that is on Ronit Roy!

But, my vote for the best-dressed of the night goes to Taaha Shah. Totally loving that jacket by Ken Ferns, and more so that he kept the rest of his outfit austere for it to stand out. Ranveer Singh, this is how it is done.
