Over the weekend, Rahul Bose and his NGO, The Foundation, raised funds via a charity auction to benefit children across India – from the Andaman islands, to Kashmir and now even Manipur. The auction raised ₹1,75,00,000.

On the auction block were iconic memorabilia donated by sixteen legendary Indians like Abhinav Bindra, Javed Akhtar and cartoonist R.K. Laxman.

Take a look at what all the well-dressed men wore:

ABHINAV BINDRA

Sharp-shooter Abhinav Bindra donated the rifle he used at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He won a gold medal that year.

We like the simplicity of his stark black suit and that flash of colour from his tie and pocket square.

AD SINGH

Olive’s affable owner, AD Singh, is always one to push the boundaries of men’s fashion and we loved this look he sported at the auction.

The chequered coat over his black kurta and white churidars is a sure winner on our fashion chart. Agree?

JAVED AKHTAR

Lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar (who donated a selection of hand-written poems to be auctioned off) cut a dashing figure in a black sherwani with ornamental buttons down the front. It contrasted nicely with his silver hair and he wore it with white pajamas.

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan also wore a button-down sherwani (in beige) with matching bottoms. He added a bright splash of colour in the form of a tasseled scarf.

The legendary musician donated an autographed sarod towards the auction.

Photographer Atul Kasbekar looked chic and dapper with a bow-tie, wing-tip collared shirt and a purple pocket square to accessorize his suit. Don’t you think he should be in front of the camera instead of behind it?
