This weekend on Koffee With Karan, the guests were Freida Pinto and Nargis Fakhri. Quite an interesting combination, considering they’re both sort of opposites of each other – Freida grew up in India and then made a name for herself in Hollywood; Nargis grew up abroad but came to Bollywood to start her career.
What was interesting about this episode is that it aired at 11pm as opposed to the regular 9pm, just because there was so much talk about sex that the channel had to shift it to a later slot. Glad they did that instead of heavily editing it, because it was an entertaining conversation and you can see that the girls really bonded during the course of the show. 1. Their names
As someone whose name can be totally made fun of (I’ve heard enough “rash” and “don’t rush me” jokes to last a while), I feel for Nargis and the puns that get made on her last name. However, it turns out that her first name is actually funnier! The actress revealed on the show that if you say her name really fast, it sounds like “nalgas” which is “butt cheeks” in Spanish. *lol* Freida chimed in, saying that Pinto actually means “small penis” in one language as well. So yup, butt cheeks meet small penis – what an episode!
2. “Punto”
I always find it hilarious when KJo gets tongue-tied (like at the Filmfare Awards), because he starts cracking up himself and then can barely recover. When trying to transition into the ads, Karan accidentally said, “I’m gonna take a bru” instead of “break,” and then obviously started laughing a little. As if that weren’t enough, he referred to Freida’s last name as “Punto,” to much hilarity. It looks like he eventually gave up because then he only managed to get out a, “Stay tuned, we’ll be right back,” in-between the laughs.
3. Nargis’ description of Rockstar
Let’s face it, we’re all guilty of criticising Nargis for her performance in Rockstar. But it’s really interesting to hear it from her perspective: what if you were told to come to China, learn the language for two months and then be the lead of the film? It was so funny, though, when she said that to her it actually sounded like “bada bada bada” to her. So, for her, acting was like “bada bada bada” – oh cry – “bada bada bada” – happy, oh yeah! *Hahaha* Puts it in perspective, and you can see why she may have had such a difficult time, since she had to dance and everything.
4. Deepika/Nargis/Freida’s threesome
I know a few guys who would be quite happy with the thought of Deepika Padukone having a threesome with Nargis and Freida. The ‘hot’ factor aside, it was funny when KJo asked Nargis what she would buy at a sex toy store, and her answer was a strap on – for her threesome with Deepika and Freida. Even funnier when they went on to describe the whole thing, and there was talk of getting a pole, a disco ball, and some really good House music. Love that these two didn’t take themselves too seriously and were open enough to joke about everything.
5. “Who am I?”
During the quiz round, Karan did his usual set of “Who am I?” questions. Except this time around, the girls – especially Nargis – kept pretending like they thought he was referring to himself. So we got options like, “person,” “celebrity,” “Karan,” “Johar,” “sexy,” “human,” etc etc etc. Karan was in splits and it was one of those things that aren’t really funny except that everyone was laughing so much, you couldn’t help but crack up as well.
