Deepika Padukone

Dress: Rosie Assoulin (Moda Operandi), Shoes: Sergio Rossi (Net-a-Porter)

There’s absolutely nothing we like about this look. This was the anniversary bash for a fashion magazine, so she had an opportunity to really have some fun. The Alexander Wang dress on its own is nice but it loses character because of the way it has been styled. The necklace is completely out of place and would have only worked if this was a jewellery show. The ‘same old same old’ hair and that ankle tattoo should really be covered because it’s too distracting. We decided to replace the whole look with pieces that are both simple without sacrificing ‘the wow factor’. Keeping the hair sleek with the rest of the look does what all outfits need to do – make the person wearing them the focus… well not that the gorgeous Deepika Padukone needs a lot of help in that area.

Earrings: Amrapali, Sari: Sabyasachi (Pernia’s Pop Up Shop), Lipstick: YSL Rouge Volupte Shine – 13 Pink in Paris (Sephora.com)

Just like her last countless appearances, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan once again looks so overwhelmed by the outfit. A woman with such a gorgeous face doesn’t need to do too much to look good – she just needs to re-learn to make herself the focus and not the outfit. We just really miss seeing Aishwarya up her game and also miss seeing her in saris. So we picked this fun sari from one of Aishwarya’s preferred designers (and ours!). We opted for an updo with the sari to, as we said before, really make her the focus. Now if her make-up artist goes easy on the concealer, we’ll have perfection.

Soha Ali Khan

Dress: Nina Ricci (Moda Operandi), Shoes: Gianvito Rossi (Net-a-Porter), Ear-cuff: Maria Black (Net-a-Porter)

When a stylist dresses someone, the first thing they identify is a person’s body type and her stylist seems to have had a hard time figuring that out. Soha Ali Khan is a gamine body type and also has a longer torso. These two things needs to be taken into consideration when dressing her up. We decided to put her in an empire-waisted flirty dress and barely there sandals to give an illusion of longer legs. While we understand the love of long hair, the length of hers just overwhelms her tiny frame; she needs to chop off a few inches. Also this was a casual event, so we loved the idea of keeping the makeup and hair relaxed à la Jessica Biel. The delicate ear-cuff adds a feminine edge that blends in seamlessly with the rest of the outfit.
