For quite some time now, there has been a big question mark about two huge Bollywood projects – Shuddhi, directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar, and Bajirao Mastani, directed and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Recently, a strong buzz suggested that Ranveer Singh, despite having had several talks with the two Karans, had opted for SLB’s Bajirao Mastani instead. The two films are scheduled to go on floors at about the same time, meaning that the actor could pick only one of the two projects, and if word is to be believed, his choice is SLB who gave him the hit Goliyon Ki Rasleela, Ram-Leela.
Ranveer’s current girlfriend, Deepika Padukone, had been approached for both projects as well. Like we told you earlier, KJo was keen on casting both her and Ranveer for Shuddhi. However, a source has now told us that Deepika has agreed to do Bajirao Mastani, which will go on floors at the end of this year. According to this source, there were two factors that led to her picking this film: a) Ranveer agreed to do it, and b) she thought it might be a safer option since SLB has more experience when compared to Karan Malhotra, who is a film old. The result, we’re told by this source, is an upset Karan Johar – he doesn’t seem to be too pleased with either Deepika or Sanjay Leela Bhansali at this point.
However, at the same time, there are others within the industry who are insisting to us that Deepika has not let go of Shuddhi at this point and is still doing the film. Which, obviously, has left us scratching our heads. Does that mean DPad is still wavering between the two? Or is she trying to work out date issues with Shuddhi so that she can do both films? There are probably a ton of discussions happening behind the scenes about these two projects, and perhaps nothing has been decided as of yet, but we have to ask you in the meantime – which of the two projects do you think Deepika Padukone should do?
