BandraRoad DIY for Purani Jeans
BandraRoad DIY for Purani Jeans

If you’re like most people, you have more than a few pairs of jeans in your closet that have not seen the light of day in a long while. With the high summer heat and monsoon nearing, it’s the best time to dig into your closets and hunt down those forgotten pieces. Especially, that old pair of jeans that now seem lifeless.

Remember, we gave you our top DIYs for denim post last month? During MissMalini’s Purani Jeans film promotions, I had a chance to spend time with lead actors Aditya Seal, Tanuj Virwani and Izabelle Leite.

Aditya and Tanuj gave me a challenge to help them refresh and breathe new life into a few of their personal “Purani Jeans”, and that’s exactly what I did, here’s how…

First, I stopped by my trusted design supply store on Hill Road and picked up some studs, patches, buttons with a vintage metallic finish and some industrial glue.

The first pair of jeans, that I worked on, belonged to Aditya. It was a dark blue pair and looked a little too proper. So, I embellished the pockets with some vintage buttons, using the industrial glue to affix. That simple!

Then, I worked on Tanuj’s jeans. They were a faded anti-fit pair. Considering the cut and the paint splatter finish, I decided to keep the embellishments simple. I first pasted a cool patch on the mini pocket section and then used a few steel-finish studs, to add a bit of a rocker edge (but not too over the top).

The enhancements to both the jeans hardly took more than a few hours. Once the jeans were ready, it was time to hand them over to the boys. The look on their faces were priceless, and they could not wait to try on their refreshed jeans.

When Sue and I were out shopping on Hill Road (Bandra), we picked up some fun goodies for Aditya and Tanuj. We got Aditya a chic printed shirt and buttoned it up to the top. For Tanuj, we picked out a cool graphic t-shirt of a cat riding a bike! A perfect match with his bad boy, studded anti-fit jeans!

It was so much fun to hang with the cast of Purani Jeans and dress them up, BandraRoad style! We were so thrilled that Izabelle Leite joined us (we had given her a sneak peek when we dressed her up in a cool street look).
