On Thursday night, Preity Zinta filed a complaint against Ness Wadia, alleging that he publicly molested, threatened and abused her at an IPL match that took place on the 30th May. The match in question was played between Ness and Preity’s team, Kings XI Punjab, and the Chennai Super Kings.

As of yet, no arrest has been made; however, women activists have been clamouring for the businessman’s arrest, saying that over 24 hours have passed since the complaint was filed and therefore some action should be taken. Currently, the police are said to be recording statements from witnesses. Ness is being charged under sections 354, 504 and 506, which carry a maximum of 2 years of punishment, along with section 509, carrying a maximum punishment of 1 year.

We’ll have to wait and see how this case develops. But meanwhile, Ness has called the allegations “false and baseless” and even commented that he couldn’t believe Preity would “stoop so low.” On her part, Preity released a statement saying that her intention by taking this step is not to harm anyone, but to protect herself. She even called it a “difficult time” and has asked that she be given privacy while she goes through this.

Stay tuned for more updates on this case.
