Remember when Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra were pitted against each other last year? Their films Zanjeer and Shuddh Desi Romance clashed at the box office with Parineeti taking the lead! History was all set to repeat itself this year too with Mary Kom and Daawat-e-Ishq all set to clash on the 5th of September. But that has been averted now! Phew!
YRF had apparently contacted Sanjay Leela Bhansali requesting him to move his film to another date because YRF had announced that date much earlier, but Sanjay didn’t budge. Mary Kom was originally supposed to have released on October 2nd along with Haider and Bang Bang but SLB, being cautious, decided to release his film earlier to avoid the clash with the biggies. If current audience reactions to the trailers of both the sisters’ films are anything to go by, PC’s Mary Kom is clearly the talk of the town and has garnered a lot of praise from everyone for the hard work she’s put into the film.
YRF has now decided to release Daawat-e-Ishq on the 19th of September under the pretext of wanting to give the film more time for promotions because director Habib Faisal wasn’t ready to release the film just yet. The Parineeti-Aditya starrer will release with other films like Khoobsurat, Ugly,Tamanchey, Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami, Roar and Dr. Cabbie. Boy, it’s going to be one crowded Friday! Does YRF really need to work on their film’s promotion or did they realise the threat that SLB’s Mary Kom is? Rumours are rife that they moved the film to accommodate Rani Mukerji‘s Mardaani, which is a very important film for them, for obvious reasons! Hmm…which one’s true? We wonder!
