Several celebrities have already spoken up in support of Deepika Padukone, after she took to Twitter over the weekend to speak out against a leading daily for doing a piece on her “cleavage show.” The actress had tweeted that since she is a woman, she has breasts and a cleavage, and asked anyone if they have a problem with that. While many from the industry tweeted expressing their views, Shah Rukh Khan didn’t post anything on his page; however, at a recent event, he spoke openly about the subject and voiced his support for the actress.
Shah Rukh Khan says:
“What she said was wonderful; we all believe in it. Maybe we don’t have the guts to do what she has done but we believe in it and we support it. For all the girls, it’s an important aspect that we have to respect. Women empowerment is a different issue but we need to respect each other’s individuality and the job that we do.”
SRK went on to say that they shouldn’t trivialise the issue by making it a part of the conversation. He even commented that it was stupid to sit here and say that he stands by it because everyone should stand by it.
On her part, Deepika claimed that she had already said whatever she needed to and believes everything else will be taken care of.
