The emotional attachment most of us feel to our favourite TV characters is something that is very difficult to achieve with movies. Epic Indian daily soaps have made me laugh, cry, and most importantly, helped me fall in love! However mushy that sounds, it’s true. No one does romance (with a lot of conflicts in between) like Indian TV does! On that note, let’s list down 10 iconic TV couples who made me (and all you guys) believe in the magic of love!

1) Kashish and Sujal

Oh my! What a couple! Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Sharif scorched up the screens as Kashish and Sujal from Kahiin to Hoga. Immensely popular amongst Indian audiences, this show’s success had a lot to do with the chemistry created by the lead actors. That’s why Kahiin Toh Hoga suffered hugely when Rajeev decided to leave the show. The serial ended a while back, but Kashish and Sujal remain one of the most iconic couples on Indian tv!

2) Khushi and Arnav

Opposites always attract and Arnav and Khushi from Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon were just that… until they fell in love and realised that they’re similar people with strong values and a clean heart. Played by Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani, Arnav and Khushi are combative, romantic, and extremely good looking!
P.S: Did you know Karan Singh Grover was the first choice to play this role? Wonder how that would have turned out! On that note….

3) Dr. Riddhima and Dr. Armaan

Well, there were three Riddhimas and just one Armaan, but Karan Singh Grover managed to create crackling chemistry with them all. But because love blossomed between Karan and his wife Jennifer Winget on the set of Dill Mill Gayye, I think she looked the best with KSG! What do you think?

4) Prerna and Anurag

Before there was a Team Edward and Team Jacob,  we had a Team Prerna and Bajaj versus Team Prerna and Anurag! Which team do you support?

5) Jassi and Armaan

I know Armaan was a douche to Jassi in the start, but the chemistry the actors Mona Singh and Apurva Agnihotri shared was amazing! Hope we get to these two in another show soon 🙂

6) Gauri and Pratham

Another reel romance that turned real was Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan. These two are undoubtedly one of the most adorable couples of TV land and that translated beautifully in, Kutumb, the show which made their characters Gauri and Pratham iconic to day the least!

7) Maya and Indravadan Sarabhai

Maya and Indravadan Sarabhai  are the type of a couple that made me believe that you can crack the meanest jokes at each other, take opposite sides to every family problem, and troll the family members your partner is really close to, but still remain head over heels in love with each other. Please someone make a petition for a second season of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai!

8) Anvesha Banerjee Ray and Yuvraj Dev

Ranveer and Tia were definitely the more romantic couple, but you know because this is my list I’ll obviously put my favourite couple from Remix in it! What I like about the romance between Anvesha Banerjee Ray and Yuvraj Dev was that they were both horrible, mean ,and crazy yet when they fell in love…magic happened! Three cheers for this quirky couple.

9) Dr. Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla and Raman Kumar Omprakash Bhalla
