The crop trend was spotted everywhere this season and I love how this trend has dextrously travelled from spring to fall. It might seem daunting at first but when done right, the crop is sexy, chic and sophisticated all at the same time. Personally, I think the crop can definitely provide an extra bit of oomph to your style. There are plenty of ways to style a crop and here’s how you can do it …

1. Keep It Casual

Leave it to the layers. If you hate to bare it all, this is for you. Layering your crop over a casual tee or pairing them simply with a crisp button down shirt inside could be one way of adapting the crop. Keep it casual girls, the crop was meant to feel comfy in.

2. Play LadyLike

Just like Deepika Padukone, don’t be afraid to pair that crop with a matching maxi/midi skirt to sway like a princess. Play with the proportions. Match your tiny crop elegantly with a high-waisted skirt or trousers to strike a balance. Like I always say, don’t forget to accessorise to add an extra touch of grace to your sweet style.

3. The Ethnic Girl

Another way of pulling this trend is pairing it with a more conservative bottom. You may pair your blouse/choli (like a crop) with your ethnic bottom wear and a dupatta to make it look traditionally appealing and yet rock it like a star. Think of it as a party on top and desi on the bottom.

4. The Denim Effect

The crop top and denim duo were a match made in heaven and I am a strong believer in that pairing. Box it off. Match those well fitted pair or denims with a box shaped crop top/sweater and your favourite sky high’s and you are ready to go.

PS:  Do the crop with a pair of boyfriend jeans and I promise you an interesting modern update.

5.Fashion Frontward

If you are a daring diva, do it the Rihanna way! If you feel like you’re revealing too much with an open midriff, try layering an open bomber jacket or a cardigan over your top so that only a hint of skin shows in the front. This will not only make you feel a little more covered up but also make you look ‘weather’ appropriate so you can rock ‘n’ roll.

PS: To modernise your crop look you may also go for a sheer jumpsuit like Kendall Jenner to keep it ladylike, sophisticated and trendy at the same time.
