The success of Aagadu has done it again for Telugu actor Mahesh Babu. What were just stray conversations to begin with have turned into solid proposals in the circles of Bollywood, what with the actor being approached with some solid offers to make his debut in Bollywood. Good news for his already growing female fanbase!
“Mahesh Babu has it all that is required to make it big in Hindi films too. He has proved his mettle down South by delivering series of successes, Aagadu being the recent one. Though he has chocolate boy looks, his biggest successes have all been action films which gives a lot of options to producers and directors. Moreover, most of his films have at least some Hindi connection, be it in terms of characters, a few dialogues or some lines in certain songs,” informs our source.
Married to Namrata Shirodkar, he has been in the news within Bollywood circles for the last five to six years. However, it’s the super-success of Dokkudu and Businessman, both highly endorsed by even Ram Gopal Varma, that brought him into limelight.
“Ever since then he has been approached by certain filmmakers of repute from Bollywood too. He has been taking his time, though,” an insider comments, “He understands that unlike a leading lady who still gets a few chances after a false start, a hero gets only one chance to make it big, especially if he is coming from South. He wants to make his first big move really carefully.”
This apprehension is not really ill placed, considering the manner in which things have progressed so far for Ram Charan Teja (Zanjeer), Surya (Rakhtcharitra) and Prithviraj (Aiyyaa, Aurangzeb).
The bigwigs are confident and keen, though, about roping him soon for a Bollywood film. Says the Marketing Head of a leading Studio that has a major international network in place, “Mahesh Babu would soon be hot property in Bollywood and we do intend to be the first in the business to get associated with him. He is 39 but looks 29, hence fitting in well for the kind of roles that Ranveer, Varun and Sidharth are bagging. Time is just perfect for new talent and Mahesh Babu can just make a walk-in due to his experience. Very soon, you would be hearing very soon about his entry in Bollywood.”
Well, the more, the merrier. As for the ladies out there, it won’t harm to have another chocolate boy to join the party!
