Chetan Bhagat’s upcoming book’s title Half Girlfriend became the butt of jokes on Twitter on its announcement. Despite the haters, Chetan Bhagat’s success is undeniable as this will be the sixth book by him that will be adapted into a Bollywood film’s screenplay. He has 3 idiots based on Five Point Someone, Hello based on One Night @ The Call Centre, The 3 Mistakes of My Life as Kai Po Che, 2 States based on 2 States: The Story of My Marriage and a yet-untitled upcoming film based on Revolution 2020, to his credit.
The latest to join this long list is his upcoming Half Girlfriend which has been picked up to be directed by Mohit Suri. Half Girlfriend tells the story of a Bihari boy who falls in love with a girl from an affluent background. The film is said to be going on floors starting next year.
Buzz was that Alia Bhatt was going to be roped in to play the female lead in the film. This would’ve been the second time Alia plays a character by Bhagat, after 2 States. However, it seems the makers have had a change of heart about the film’s heroine.
Well, turns out, Heropanti girl Kriti Sanon was also a strong contender for the role and now the babe has actually bagged the coveted role for the film too!
Even though the makers didn’t confirm or deny this piece of informatiion, Chetan Bhagat cleared all doubts. He took to Twitter to announce his book’s launch and mentioned that Kriti will be present there to read out passages from the book. Now who else but the leading lady is given that honour?
