Recently the internet was going crazy as talk about the second season of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai finally happening was doing the rounds. In a recent interview, directer Deven Bhojani ignited the hope that not only will the fabulous show make a comeback, it’ll also be back with a time leap. Fans obviously rejoiced – but clearly the party has been called off.

JD Majethia, the show’s producer (who also played the hilarious Himanshu on the show), has rubbished these rumours. He confirmed saying that the second season isn’t happening any time soon. Here’s what he said:

Yes, even I have heard the rumours because one of our team members (Deven Bhojani) commented somewhere, but it was misinterpreted. No, the season 2 isn’t happening. Aatish Kapadia and I haven’t decided whether or not it will start in the near future.

But then what about the thousand hearts this is going to shatter? For 8 years now, there have been millions of requests from all over to the show’s makers (especially on their social media) begging for a next season. Is there never going to be one? He said:

We do have very strong intentions to start the second season but it depends on many factors like availability of all the actors, a fresh script, an idea about the show that is in sync with today’s time. Also, the channel should feel that it is right for their particular slot on a particular day or days. So if all of this falls into place, we would be the last people to say no for the show.

So what is stopping them from recreating television history, you wonder? Is it the channel?

We do have a fantastic idea in place but the channel should feel it is fantastic for them too.

Majethia also didn’t divulge any details about the apparent time leap.

Honestly, this is too much handle! But I am glad that at least we are talking about the show’s comeback seriously after all these years. That should be a good sign!

One can only hope…
