Well, it has been a while since Karan Johar wore the director’s hat. His last directorial venture, Student Of The Year, was a young and breezy flick that gave Bollywood three promising newcomers (Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt). Post that, the filmmaker was busy with his talk show, Koffee With Karan. And now, he is finally all set to helm his next masterpiece. Naturally, everyone has been speculating who’s going to star in it.
While initial reports suggested that Karan was keen on casting Salman Khan for his movie, a few sources later revealed that Ranbir Kapoor had cracked the deal. In fact, during his stint on Karan’s chat show, when Salman was asked to reveal the director he wishes to work with next, this is what the superstar had said:
“Karan Johar! But Karan Johar doesn’t want to work with me. Who have you singed next? You’ve signed Ranbir Kapoor. He’s taking away everything yaar…This is not fair!”
(The ‘everything’ includes Katrina Kaif too, BTW.)
So that’s when we began wondering about RK Jr being a part of Karan’s next directorial venture. But there’s been so much more rumours about this whole situation again. Firstly, the grapevine had it that Aamir Khan has been roped in for the Dharma project opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. And then, separate reports suggested that Ranbir will be seen romancing Anushka Sharma in Karan’s next. Finally, there were even more reports that Ranbir, Aishwarya and Anushka will all star in this film.
Though many sources claim that the news of Ranbir, Aishwarya and Anushka doing the film are authentic, Karan Johar took to Twitter to clarify all the rumours. This is what he posted:
