With at least one big success to his name practically every year, Ajay Devgn is now looking at closing the year with another big one to his name – Action Jackson. Since Prabhu Dheva is at the helm of direction and Eros along with Gordhan Tanwani sparing no expense in the making, promotion, marketing and release of the biggie, a bad season of some back-to-back unsuccessful films could well end with this out and out entertainer.
Ajay, the current season has been pretty bad for movies and Happy New Year was actually the last success. The industry is waiting with bated breath and hoping that Action Jackson turns out to be one film that changes the trend.
You pretty much know what happened in November. The audience just didn’t go to theaters, which is the scary part. In fact, the last couple of films that worked, the audience appreciation was missing. Last week I was speaking to my sister and she told me that a couple of new releases that she saw were so bad that she felt that filmmakers were making a fool of her. Aise mein mood kharaab ho jaata hai audience ka. They start believing that agli picture bhi kharaab hi hogi. Anyway, Action Jackson is an out and out entertainer, so that should reverse the trend.
In any case, with Prabhu Dheva as a director, it is almost guaranteed that a film would have immense mass appeal. Was that a comforting factor for you to pick up Action Jackson?
See, mass appeal is something that I am honestly not worried about. Masses bahaut loyal hote hain. When you make something in their zone toh woh zaroor aate hain. Unlike liye Action Jackson mein bahaut kuch hai. Having said that, we have targeted the film for classes also by making it very stylish. Also, humor bhi aisa nahi hai ki buffoonery chal rahi ho. Since Prabhu Dheva himself is a good actor, he made sure that all of us did what the style of narration demanded.
Well, with the film running in theaters now, we would like to check that out for ourselves!
