Celebrities in their twinsets!
Celebrities in their twinsets!

Don’t you just love it when old trends get revamped and feel as good as new? This is one seems to be one of those. Twinsets used to be synonymous with uptown housewives, sorority girls and well, Coco Chanel. Anna Wintour made them her signature and when the trend took a turn for the better – everyone jumped on the bandwagon.  So as this falls under one of the biggest trends of the year (wait for the entire list!), here’s where you can get a piece for yourself and how to wear it.

1. The Solid Crop

This is pretty simple and it lets you reuse the separates differently. Make sure either one of your two pieces are printed, either the skirt, or the top. Once you’ve picked, match it with a colour on your skirt or top. Madison on Peddar has some great options.

2. Mix & Match

This one is easy. I went to Forever21 and picked out a military green crop top. While walking around the store, I found a military green skirt – and together, they worked so well! So that’s how I’ve been wearing it ever since. Add a belt to break the monotony.

3. Print-on-Print

This is the easiest way to incorporate two major trends in one outfit. We all know print on print is huge and now we have a twinset added to it – this wouldn’t be possible to do with any two other trends!

4. Shine On

Everyone loves a little bit of shine. Up the glamour quotient of your twinset and go with some embellishments either on the crop top or the skirt. Try not to do it for both when using metallics, you don’t want to blind everyone!

So that’s 4 super cool ways to do twinsets and the best part is, there’s a style for every occasion. What I love about the trend is you can mix and match your twins with other separates so they can be as multipurpose as possible. Reuse and recycle, people!
