The legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan, is an inspiration to thousands across the world. And this piece of information about the veteran superstar is going to inspire each of you all the more. Big B was suffering from tuberculosis in 2000 and the dreadful ailment could have cost him his life. But the disease never deterred the actor from living life to its fullest. He secretly battled TB with the support of only his immediate family and closest friends and gradually emerged triumphant.
At a the recently held launch of Bombay Municipal Corporation’s TB awareness campaign, he finally opened up about it. He said:
I was a TB patient years ago. I have never spoken about it on a public platform, but now is the time. If it could happen to me, it can happen to anyone. I was weak and I had lost appetite. Blood tests revealed that I had TB. I was in a good environment and I was fortunate enough to get healthy food. Sometimes, we do get exposed to the disease at certain places. It didn’t take me long to agree to be brand ambassador for this campaign.
