When you think about Bollywood style icons, Salman Khan is probably not the first name that comes to mind. But think about it a little more and you’ll realise that this superstar has actually made a bunch of things – some very random things – into huge style statements just because he’s sported them himself. Since he’s got such crazy fans, they’re all willing to go the extra mile to adopt some of Bhai‘s style. Here’s a look at 7 things that would’ve probably not been that trendy at all, had Salman not given it his Bhai stamp of approval:
1) The Friend Cap
‘Dosti ki hai, nibhani toh padegi‘ wasn’t the only thing that Maine Pyar Kiya made famous. Salman’s ‘Friend’ cap was all the rage back then!
2) Going shirtless
He was probably the first Bollywood actor to make ‘going shirtless’ a mainstream thing. Much of his career in the ’90s featured him shedding whatever he was wearing on the upper part of his body, but that’s no longer the case, because…
3) Being Human t-shirts
Now, he’s got a different Being Human t-shirt for every day! And his fans love aping his style. Walk through any city in India and you’re pretty much guaranteed to come across several people wearing Being Human t-shirts. Many of them are knock-offs, but apparently it’s the thought that counts, right?
4) The Dabangg glasses
This is probably his biggest trend of recent times.
5) The firoza bracelet
Salman is never seen without his, and now firoza bracelets are more commonly referred to as “Salman Khan bracelets” – most places that sell them advertise it as such!
6) A greasy middle-part
Sure, middle partings are having a trendy moment right now, but only Salman can rock the greasy look and get away with it. Not only get away with it, but have it become one of his most memorable looks!
7) Those shiny pants
Pretty sure Salman Khan’s pants is the only light source they needed on sets that day.
Which of these trends is your favourite?
