This B-town leading lady played the punjabi Geet with absolute aplomb, in one of her most memorable films, Jab We Met. Now that she is stepping into Udta Punjab, she is aiming to get her Punjabi act perfect for the upcoming Abhishek Chaubey film. The first step in this direction is to get the vocabulary, diction, lingo and accent right, and for that, Kareena Kapoor Khan is hiring a Professor from Delhi University.
A friend of Kareena said:
She has a very performance driven part to play in Udta Punjab and by no means can she afford to have any rough edge whatsoever. Even though she is a Punjabi and has played a Punjabi kudi in a number of films, Udta Punjab is different. Other than the body language and mannerisms, she has to get the language part right. For that, a Professor is flying down from Delhi to train her.
The exercise would last for 10 whole days and even though Kareena would be shooting for her special song and dance number in Brothers during this duration, she is putting aside 3 hours in a day to be with the Professor and get her Punjabi spot on. Apparently, the professor in question is highly recommended by a member of the Kapoor Khaandaan.
The friend added:
These are going to be hectic times for Kareena as she is also busy with sister-in-law Soha Ali Khan’s wedding which is on the way. Despite this, she seems to be managing everything well. With the shoot for Bajrangi Bhaijaan also under way, she is now neck deep in activities post her Christmas and New Year vacation with Saif Ali Khan.
Still, considering the fact that Abhishek expects his leading ladies to totally plunge into their characters – as was the case with Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit in Ishqiya and Dedh Ishqiya respectively – there are great expectations from Kareena to deliver in a major way.
