Sonam Kapoor Dolly Ki Doli
Sonam Kapoor Dolly Ki Doli

I’ve been told that I go to weddings the way most people go to work, and I’m sure that’s true for a lot of people. After all, it’s wedding season, and no matter where you turn, there’s talk of an upcoming wedding. And arguably the best part of a wedding is the sangeet – it’s the one function where everyone gets to let their hair down and dance the night away.

However, sangeets can also be a bit stressful, especially if you’re one of the friends/family members putting up a stage performance – sometimes, the hardest part of that is just picking the right song! We’re making it a bit easier for you by listing down the latest Bollywood sangeet songs that work great for on-stage performances – these are all a part of films that have released within the past four months or so, making them the best songs of the late 2014/early 2015 wedding season.

1. Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan

This song is being called the new Baby Doll, and it’s not hard to see why – it’s got the same vibe, and has the same names attached to it (Kanika Kapoor and the Meet Bros). As far as I’m concerned, Baby Doll will always be relevant and appropriate for anything – however, those who liked it but were shying away from dancing to that sexy song might find Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan a better option. It’s also a good pick if you’re looking for a song for only girls to dance to.

2. Sooraj Dooba Hain

I don’t know what it is with Roy songs that remind me of other songs, but I’m calling Sooraj Dooba Hain my new Subha Hone Na De. I’m obsessed with this song, and it’s absolutely perfect for a fun, lively group dance.

3. Phatte Tak Nachna

This is Bollywood’s latest wedding film, and Phatte Tak Nachna is one of the more popular songs from it.

4. Radha Nachegi

This one’s a good song for a solo female performance, but will also work if you have a few in your group!

5. Superman

While Radha Nachegi works well for the ladies, another song from Tevar, titled Superman, is great for the men out there. Got kids in your family that need to perform? This is a fabulous pick because it’s catchy and the moves don’t have to be super complicated. Psst! Learn the moves from our dance blogger here.

6. Tharki Chokro

This may not be the most obvious choice, but if you’re on the boy’s side and want to poke a little fun at the groom, this is a good option. Works especially well as a group performance for all those friends-of-the-groom.

7. Dance Basanti

This is a fun, dance-y number for a couple – or multiple couples!

8. G Phaad Ke

Have a bunch of extra people to dance who can’t dance – or just don’t have enough time to practice for a major performance? Throw them all together for this song. It doesn’t have any major dance moves to pull off, so you can just have fun with it.

9. Touch My Body

Don’t Be Shy got a revamp for the 2014 flick, Alone, and now it’s known as Touch My Body.

10. Love is a Waste of Time

Need a cute couple song for your skit? This one’s adorable, and will also be a good option for parents or slightly older folks, since it’s slow.

Which song are you planning on dancing to at an upcoming sangeet? Remember, the list above is only the very latest songs, but there are a bunch of other dance songs from 2014 that should definitely make the cut too. And if you want to go even further back, there’s a 2013 dance song list as well as a 2013 sangeet song list!
