3) Legends and History.

Here’s a super quick recap on history so far, just to get you a little up to date with what you may have missed. Feel free to also marvel at the amazing and rich history behind it all!

  • West Indies won the first two editions of the World Cup consecutively in 1975 and 1979.
  • India won the World Cup as underdogs in 1983 (WOOHOO), Australia won the 1987 edition, Pakistan won in 1992 against England which was held in Australia.
  • The 1992 World Cup was particularly special, as it was the first edition which had coloured jerseys, the introduction of the white ball and playing under lights – adding more colour and spunk to the game!
  • The 1996 edition was held in India won by Sri Lanka, and Australia went ahead and won the 1999, 2003 and 2007 World Cup. This made them one of the greatest cricketing nations (Whoa)!
  • The previous edition which was held in 2011 in India and Sri Lanka was won by the hosts and our beloved INDIA. Will we repeat what we did then? Time will tell!
