I distinctly remember going for Homi Adajania‘s Cocktail with a LOT of expectations. I mean the man had made Being Cyrus before this and it had the magical Love Aaj Kal jodi of Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, what could possibly go wrong? The answer is – a lot. A lot went wrong with Cocktail. So much so, that I personally believe that Veronica and Meera (played really well by Deepika and Diana Penty) should have kicked Gautam (played by Saif) out of their lives, forever! Here’s why.
1) His flirting was downright creepy.
Usually men like this are avoided like plague or definitely demoted to the friend zone forever. But this is a movie and obviously movies can’t show reality, can they?
2) His criteria for marrying a woman is based on how good she cooks.
Well, if that’s the case he should go back to the 15th century where he certainly came from.
3) Meera is sweet.
She’s so sweet, and in so much trouble. She should really sort her life out before jumping onto the first man who approaches her.
4) Gautam tries to start a romance with Meera while he’s still involved with Veronica.
And that my friends, makes Gautam a cheater!
5) Veronica is a fun, independant woman who speaks her mind, she deserves better.
She deserves a man who can handle her spirit. Not some loser who wants to fool around with her and eventually settle with a girl who can best be described as a domesticated pet.
6) Meera goes to hell and back while trying to make her ‘marriage’ work with Kunal!
Does she need a sleazeball like Gautam in her life after so much drama?
7) Gautam’s mom is all for the ‘ideal Indian girl’.
Firstly, please stop stereotyping women. Secondly, however nice Dimple Kapadia‘s character seems to be, she does have enough ammunition to be a perfect K-serial saas in the future. And really, no one should have to live with that!
8) Veronica is a star!
A super-star. I mean she’s so hot, Honey Singh believes that the Government should ban her (at least that’s what he sings in Angreji Beats). She doesn’t need to please a person who doesn’t accept her the way she is.
9) The guy did NOT deserve the attention of two incredibly hot women!
No, just no.
10) Veronica and Meera look far better together!
Seriously, I’d rather watch Meera and Veronica kicking Gautam’s ass and continue to live as amazing roommates than waste their time in this annoying love triangle. Monica and Rachel anyone?
