Not only did Gaurav Gupta bring all of his label’s original ideologies in one show, but he presented in a collection that celebrated girl power in all its forms. This was one adrenaline rush of a showcase, technically and thematically. From power suits to sculpted saris, Gaurav Gupta’s autumn winter ’15 collection was a brilliant build up to a bad-ass finish! Here’s what he had to tell MissMalini about his collection.

The show opened with the fierce Rachel Bayros unraveling the first look, a golden full length dress with Gupta signature elements. From there, each look embodied the label’s love for clean lines in deconstructed forms and boning techniques. From all the fabric choices, the looks that I personally noted were ones in shiny liquid jerseys and menswear fabrics, which again came with zipper line detailing. And for the first time, the label featured looks with digital prints that were exciting by themselves. As the models shot out of the wings of the runway, the build up to the show’s final two looks was where the ‘aha’ moment made its appearance. Rachel and Carol Gracias marched on the the runway in two power suits as Freedom by George Michael played and the audience applauded in affirmation. Though the show had a lot of elements, clothing-wise, the way Gupta brought it all together was the main reason why we love him.

This show was all one would ask for from Gaurav Gupta. I felt the love and I now want a power suit in a menswear set up based on the final two looks. Mr. Gupta, if you’re listening, I am on a look out to get my hands on a fab suit just like the pinstripe one Carol wore. Hopefully, we can spot it in the menswear section of your swanky store!
