While many of us are becoming diligent consumers of high-end designer labels, do we really know what fashion is all about? Have you ever wondered what goes into the entire process when a model walks down wearing gorgeous clothes on the runway? Do you ever think about what workmanship goes into the garment? Are your answers no? Yeah, well I didn’t know either, until I came across this article. Voguette and Fashion Features Director, Bandana Tewari enlightened us on a point of concern in the fashion world.

All the history books in the world have divulged the fact that India is the most hand-skilled country in the world. However, in today’s economically fast world, there is an abundance of industrialisation. From the quaint Gujrati villages, to the ancient quarters of Lucknow and Punjab, any appreciator of fashion knows where the extraordinary patterns and embroideries come from. Weavers, embroiderers, and embellishers build their livelihood on these skilled crafts. But there’s no credit given to our artisans.

Check out some of the designers that love and incorporate such ethnic fabric and textiles.
