Yes, as a matter of fact Akshay Kumar is all set to enjoy his biggest year till date as he has two very high profile films lined up for release next – Brothers and Singh Is Bling. His Baby has already crossed the 95 crore mark and Gabbar Is Back should also comfortably cross the 90 crore mark. This makes it 185 crore on the basis of two released films of his this year.
His next release is Brothers and it is a kind of packaged entertainer that is designed to be huge. If the subject (boxing), director (Karan Malhotra – Agneepath) and producer (Karan Johar) aren’t big enough, what makes the film further special is the fact that Sidharth Malhotra features as a parallel lead too. After his 100 crore superhit Ek Villain, Sidharth has managed to build a huge fan base which, when combined with the fan base of Akshay Kumar, is all set to be huge. While 100 crore would be a cakewalk for the film, it won’t be surprising if 150 crore come in as well. Even by a conservative estimate, 125 crore is on cards.
This leaves only 90 crore to be scored by Singh Is Bling. With Prabhudheva (Rowdy Rathore) as a director, a title which has a huge recall value (courtesy Singh Is Kinng) and of course stepping in of Akshay himself as a Sikh, there is no reason why it should not turn out to be a biggie on the 2nd October holiday release.
After 2012 (Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, OMG – Oh My God! and Khiladi 786), Akshay Kumar is set to have another year when he would score over 400 crore at the box office.
