The ’90s have made a major comeback in the boho fashion trends of 2015. We’re talking platform sandals, bell bottoms or flare denims, scrunchies and of course, chokers. I never thought I would say this, but I am really excited about choker necklaces making their comeback. The last time I wore a choker like this, I was probably listening to the Spice Girls or rocking out on my air guitar listening to Janis Joplin. After I got over the Spice Girls, I swear I thought the choker trend would fade away too, but it hasn’t gone anywhere.

Everyone’s been rocking these necklaces as off late, from street style stars to celebrities and even on the runway. That was all the proof we needed to realise that this style is here to stay. There are so many options to choose from, like the

embellished, plain gold or silver, black ribbons with pendants

or even the tattoo, so finding the one that works for you might be tricky. But honestly,

don’t overthink this trend, just go with it.

You can wear your chokers with almost everything. A simple plain white shirt with denims and a gold or silver choker would enhance your outfit. Here are some outfit inspirations to convince you that choker necklaces can really make your outfit shine.

Rihanna looks elegant with a minimal silver choker that she has layered with another neckpieces, which works really well. I like layering my chokers with more than one necklace. The effect is quite cool.

Black and gold really compliment each other. If you’re wearing a simple outfit, then a plain gold chain choker will really make a statement. You can wear it with a simple black tee or a black dress.

Chokers can make even a boring work outfit stand out. I love the plain silver and gold chokers. You can wear them to work or on a night out with friends. I love accessories that are versatile. It cuts down your decision making time when you’re in a rush to get ready.

Chokers are not a completely new trend, but we were more than happy to let the look skip its way back into our ’90s-loving hearts. Perhaps we should credit the choker’s resurgence to spring music festivals’ tendency to re-discover trends and bedazzle them. The hipsters have a huge role to play in bringing back this trend.

I’m pretty sure all my ’90s friends remember the chokers. The Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child and TLC all wore them in their music videos at the time. A little less grunge and more sophisticated this season, it dresses up your typical white shirt in a second. They look great with high crew-neck tops, but they work even better with deep plunging V’s. They’re perfect for bringing a cool, sexy edge to blazer or tuxedo jacket.
