Kick it off in style!
Kick it off in style!

We’ve been talking rainy-day style in our last couple of posts (see here and here!) Now, we do realize that sometimes cute rain boots are hard to come by. But having a cool monsoon street look shouldn’t be restricted to rain boots or heavy rain gear centric styles. Here’s how sneakers fit in! They’re cool and we know you thought Lily Allen was super rad when she wore dresses with sneakers. Here are 7 smart-ass looks with sneakers for you to try and play around on a wet day!

1. Sneaker and shifts!

Taking inspiration from the picture below, all you need is a cute shift dress, coloured trainers and your rain-cheater! Yes, I understand the picture is of a girl with a sling bag. But your rain cheater can easily be tied in a similar, cute way. No?

2. Bodycon and kicks!

We spotted this picture on model/anchor, Archana Vijaya at a fabulous vacay location looking particularly fine. Tip to pick? A pastel body-con dress worn with white kicks turns a sexy look into a cool chic trick. And like her, you too can rest you rain jacket on your shoulders when it ain’t drizzling.

3. Kelly’s rock-meets-vintage-meets-punk style

Here’s a cool trick for the fashion ‘chefs’ who love mixing influences. See how rock chick and fashionista, Kelly Osbourne worked rock elements in her biker jacket (which you can replace with a rain-jacket) with a vintage feel skirt and punk block-sole or platform sneakers. Bad-ass by definition!

4. Back To School Influences

Remember those patent school shoes that got dirty and you managed to make them squeaky clean with wet wipes?  Dig into your school girl memories to form a back-to-school look around patent rain Mary Janes or Oxford shoes.

5. Nautical themes with canvas

White canvas shoes on a rain day?! Well, sometimes you really don’t spend too much time on the streets. So, in this case, why not play out those classic white canvas sneakers! While this tip is inspired from the picture below which has that nautical element, it also totally fits in with the monsoon theme.

6. All black and a little white to the airport

Remember the early morning flight, where you just can’t be bothered to dress for. In addition, the unpredictable monsoon weather calls for smart dressing alternatives. Enter: A cool all-black look with sneakers and a cool jacket or a rain coat. It’s dope and pretty much what you need when you have to catch the red eye.

7. Biker Cuteness!

Here’s a cute way to look at the monsoon. Wear your look for the day and team it with sneakers to be able to bike to work. You carry your rain gear in a cute back pack and that way, you’re prepped for the rains too!
